When the control stick broke on the A-SCAN at the Eye Surgery center I work at, I as the repair tech was called down to see what I could do to fix it,
The original stick had snapped at the base. There is a button in the middle.
I called everyone I could think of to get a replacement. No luck everyone told me there are no replacements available!
I need to buy a new or referbished machine! - New ones are $20k and referbished are a few thousand.
So I decided it was a good use for the 3D printer I have at home. I took the machine appart, removed the part its
attached to and took it home on a friday. When we opened on Monday the machine had the 3D printed replacement and
everyone thought I bought it! Its stronger then the original and its been going non-stop for at least a year!
I saved the company a bunch of money and I used my printer to make something that was more then usefull...
Printed in Carbon plus PLA at 80% infill. No supports!
