Coral Seed Canister
Coral Seed Canister

Inspired by H♥pe3D's project reef, my brother's sea aquarium and the research i did for this project i modeled this canister.
It holds 4 coral plugs in the pyramidebase which are protected by the top part without limiting the seed or coral fragment access to fresh water and food. These coral frags are commonly used by aquarium hobbyist for cultivating and growing coral.
My hope and idea is that this canister can be massproduced by 3D-hobbyist and together with coral farmers all over the world restore the worldsreefs. The PLA will desolve over time and my hope and idea is that by that time the coral will be strong and anchored enough ór has already sprouted buds or sexually reproduced!
I printed this at 0.15 layerheight and the covers don't need support, the base part does need it. I highly recommend tuning your retractionsettings so you limit stringing. Print both parts at 100% infill so the canister sinks to the bottom of the reef for restoration.
The research i used to moddel this canister after: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-17555-z#Fig1
I do not take credit for their work just moddeld, and adjusted, my canister after one of their designs.
use 100% infill so the PLA will sink to the bottom of the reef. The base part needs support the top covers don't. Print this at a low speed and high precision. If your printer is not so precise or you're inpatience print the covers at 105%
